November seems to be a very short month for Death Metal, but quantity does not dictate quality. This is the list of November 2016 Death Metal Releases. If I have missed anything or if there is anything you want to be added to this list please comment and inform me of my ignorance. Check out Black Metal for November 2016 Here
Thrash Doom and Heavy Metal releases to be done soon.
Doom death always has an extent of elegance and destruction. Following the previous statement, you can say that Asphodelus‘s Dying Beauty & the Silent Sky is a tornado made of fire and ice. There is a somber atmosphere that is delivered aptly combined with an overture of strength to back it up consistently and substantially throughout all of Dying Beauty & the Silent Sky‘s 23 minute extent.
For fans of the genre of doom death, this is not one that will disappoint. I cannot wait to hear a full length album by Asphodelus in the future. This is an epic EP that deserves a full length follow up.
After two critically acclaimed releases through IRON BONEHEAD PRODUCTIONS – 2013’s Shadows From the Cemetery demo and 2014’s Towards the Gates MLP – Finland’s Cemetery Fog are reborn as ASPHODELUS. Now expanded to a trio, ASPHODELUS will release their first record in this incarnation, a four-song 12″ MLP titled Dying Beauty & the Silent Sky, through IRON BONEHEAD. Between those two aforementioned releases, Cemetery Fog made huge evolutionary strides – from doomy death metal, raw and rough-hewn, to a more magisterial and daresay graceful form of pure doom-death – andASPHODELUS continue that evolution with their debut mini-album. The three expansive tracks (and obligatorily somber intro) of Towards the Gates & the Silent Sky show that the band are not totally tethered to the usual doom-death tropes – particularly those of the early ’90s UK scene – and now can incorporate the mournful mysticism of classic Greek black metal, like early Septic Flesh and Horrified. Meanwhile, from this majestic canvas often explode sparkling Bathorian leads, guiding the atmosphere from sorrow to triumph. ASPHODELUS were young as Cemetery Fog and still may be, but their confidence and ambition in this new guise are immediately apparent on Dying Beauty & the Silent Sky – and they’re just getting started, once again.
Gates of Hell (a Cruz Del Sur Music sub-label) will release Yeth Hound, the debut album from Finnish heavy metal entity Tyfon’s Doom on July 8. The album will be released on limited edition CD (500 copies) and vinyl LP (300 copies) formats and includes the bands 2015 Demo, previously released digitally, as bonus tracks. Tyfon’s Doom is a one-man band that brings to the table an obscure and unpolished style of traditional heavy metal. Tommi Varsala, the man behind this project, was able to capture the original spirit of metal like only a few other bands in today’s scene have done so well. While influences such as Iron Maiden, Mercyful Fate and early Metal Church are apparent, Tyfon’s Doom sounds incredibly fresh and personal. With brilliant songwriting, great guitar work and gritty vocal style, Tyfon’s Doom will bring you back to a time when you were discovering amazing new bands by looking through the metal LPs at your local record store.
Gates of Hell Records is a sub-label of Cruz Del Sur Music devoted to the old spirit of heavy metal a particular aversion for fashion, trends and contamination.
Following Mausoleum Gate‘s 2014 critically acclaimed self-titled debut album comes the two-track 7″ vinyl release of Metal and the Might. The release contains two new songs to please all their fans and keep the flame alive. Reflecting once more the eccentricity and uniqueness of these Fins, the title track is a straight in your face metal offering. The B side is occupied for over 6 minutes by the fantastic Demon Soul,” representing the band’s progressive essence.
In October 2014 the release of Mausoleum Gate‘s self-titled full-length debut album caught the world of Heavy Metal by surprise. Out of nowhere Mausoleum Gate garnered genuine, unexpected attention, considering they do not play your average kind of metal. With an unusual offering that incorporates elements of late 70s proto-metal and a genuine, breathtaking affiliation with the spirit of the NWOBHM, Mausoleum Gate soon rose to the status of cult-band,” a condition that brought them to play prestigious German Keep It True festival in 2015.
Mausoleum Gate was formed in 2008 by Count L.F. (gt) and Wicked Ischanius (bs) and two years after recorded their debut EP Gateways For The Wicked. In the spring of 2013 the band released Obsessed By Metal 7” and reached a deal with Cruz Del Sur Music to release their self-titled debut album in October 2014.
The band has recently hired the services of new bass-player Nino Karjalainen (not playing on the 7 though) while Wicked Ischianus has moved to keyboards full time.
