November seems to be a very short month for Death Metal, but quantity does not dictate quality. This is the list of November 2016 Death Metal Releases. If I have missed anything or if there is anything you want to be added to this list please comment and inform me of my ignorance. Check out Black Metal for November 2016 Here
Thrash Doom and Heavy Metal releases to be done soon.
This is an epic music video for a song that is beyond the capacity of words of epicism. Bathory‘s “A Fine Day to Die” is one of the heaviest tracks you can hear in the realms of Viking Black Metal, shit just Black metal alone.
Sing the Fuck Along at Home!!!!!
Orgy of silence
Conspiracy of peace
Only the sound
Of the cold northern breeze
Twinsun sink fading
Behind the black lake
Asleep is the mountains
Yet the night is awake
Strange is the night
Now black stars rise
And many moons circle
Through silent the night
Along the black mountainside scattered
By the campfires awaiting the dawn
Two times a hundred men in battles
Tried by the steel in the arrow axe and the sword
By battle worn hunger torn awaitening
For the sun to break through the cold haze
And for the banners of Ebal to appear
On the hill in the suns first warm rays
The elder among the men looked deep into
The fire and spoke loud with pride
Tomorrow is a fine day to die
Now the morning advance from far east
Now the sun breaks through dust clouds and haze
Now a forest of spears appears on the hill
And steel shines bright in the suns first rays
Are you ready to get your cerebral cortex ripped from your brain stem through your fucking ears? Interment is back with Scent of the Buried to show the world how Swedish death metal should fucking sound.
Interment formed in 1988 under the name Beyond. 1988 was part of the era of the emergence of the sound of Sweden we have all come to love. Interment was part of that pioneering force alongside Dismember, Entombed, Nihilist and Grave. You should know what to expect from Interment; dirty chainsaw death metal!
Though being an early Swedish death metal band, Interment did not release a full length album until 2010. Interment’s 2010 release, Into the Crypts of Blasphemy, was received with high regard. Since Entombed just plays death ‘n roll now and Dismember is no more, Interment is a great fill of the void of Swedish death metal.
Scent of the Buried has now been released as of April 1st, you need to get your hands on this album. Scent of the Buried has that old school feel to it like no one else in Sweden is currently doing. There are many old school Swedish death metal influences on this album, for instance, The album was recorded and mixed by Tomas Skogsberg and the mastering was done by Sverker Widda Widgren.
If you are unfamiliar with Interment, some of the bands that were formed during their hiatus in the mid 90’s you may be aware of. Interment is made up of members of bands like Centinex, Uncanny, Regurgitate, Dellamorte and Moondark.
If you are a fan of Dismember’sMassive Killing Capacity, Grave’sInto The Grave, Entombed’sClandestine, Nihilist, Carnage and the other pioneering forces of Swedish death metal, check out Interment’sScent of the Buried.
Keep in Mind I said this album sounds like Swedish death metal, not Gothenburg At The Gates clones.
It is very difficult for me to strictly label Head of the Demon’sSathanas Trismegistos as doom metal, I just find it very difficult to place it anywhere else. This is about as epic as doom metal can get. Usually when a band tries to make an epic doom album the words boring, yawn, sleepy come to mind, with Sathanas Trismegistos the words phenomenal, extraordinary, unique, and impressive come to mind.
There is an undertone of black metal that drives this album alongside its mainly doom metal overture. My favorite part about this album is the fusing of elements of psychedelic rock into the already solid doom and black metal presentation without eliminating the evil sounding vibes. This is a magnificent album with a lot of creativity oozing from each riff. There is a thick atmosphere of occult that surrounds this album like a black aura. There is an evil energy that dwells in this album. It feels like this album is channeling spirits from another realm or dimension.
Each song on Head of the Demon’s new album is hypnotic and desensitizing. Each track has these little riff passages that rip hard as hell. This album definitely has some sort of spell that casts itself upon you. Simplicity played with perfect timing is the key to Sathanas Trismegistos. This is a solid doom metal album that is strictly true to itself and genre.
There is not much in the doom metal world, of black metal for that matter, that I would compare Head of the Demon to. Sathanas Trismegistos is a uniquely rich experience that holds no comparison. This is one of those albums that is going to change the way the genre of doom is thought about.
Sathanas Trismegistos will be released by Invictus Productions on April 30th for Europe and the Anja Offensive will be releasing this June 24th for North America.
SHE’S THE CREATURE OF YOUR DOOM! SHE’S THE NIGHT VIPER, THE FLOWER ON YOUR TOMB!
Let me set the mood correctly for this experience to hit home. You just ended the nightly edition of your public access rock show. You jump in your AMC Pacer and pick up your buddies and head to the local place that has bands playing. The dude at the door tells you some shitty cover band is playing and another band you never heard of. That band is Night Viper and that chick can wail!
If you are not understanding my point you probably need parental guidance because you are too young to fully enjoy music at its proper volumes, schaawing. Night Viper is the wayyyyyy better version of Crucial Taunt.
I froze in my tracks when this album came on. Metal is simply not made like this any more and when it is you cannot simply just listen to it once. It’s rocking, it shreds, it rips, it rocks, it rolls, it fucking rules.
Night Viper is like putting a snake charming singer in between two pit vipers hissing relentlessly back and forth between each other. Dueling guitars at full throttle with no ability to slow down with a monstrous rhythm section. Even the damn ballad isn’t lame.
Though being released in late 2015, this is going to be the best album of 2016. Where does Svart Records find these bands that can re-imagine the early days of traditional heavy metal like this without it being regurgitative wankery? First it was Speedtrap, now its Night Viper.
I cannot explain the sheer awesomeness of this album, you just have to experience it yourself. Check it out below, this is going to blow your fucking mind. I DARE YOU TO CHALLENGE THE NIGHT VIPER! LONG LIVE HEAVY FUCKIN’ METAL!
