“The Number Of The Beast”

“Woe to you, oh Earth and Sea, for the Devil sends the beast with wrath,
Because he knows the time is short…
Let him who hath understanding reckon the number of the beast
For it is a human number,
Its number is Six hundred and sixty six.

I left alone, my mind was blank.
I needed time to think, to get the memories from my mind.

What did I see?
Can I believe that what I saw that night was real and not just fantasy.

Just what I saw in my old dreams
Were they reflections of my warped mind staring back at me?

‘Cause in my dreams it’s always there
The evil face that twists my mind and brings me to despair

The night was black, was no use holding back
‘Cause I just had to see, was someone watching me
In the mist dark figures move and twist
Was all this for real, or just some kind of hell?

666 the number of the beast
Hell and fire was spawned to be released

Torches blazed and sacred chants were praised
As they start to cry hands held to the sky
In the night the fires are burning bright
The ritual has begun, Satan’s work is done

666 the number of the beast
Sacrifice is going on tonight

This can’t go on I must inform the law
Can this still be real or just some crazy dream?
But I feel drawn towards the chanting hordes
They seem to mesmerise, can’t avoid their eyes

666 the number of the beast
666 the one for you and me

I’m coming back
I will return
And I’ll possess your body and I’ll make you burn
I have the fire
I have the force
I have the power to make my evil take its course

Listen To: Iron Maiden – Power Slave No ratings yet.

Widely regarded as the quintessential heavy metal album of all time, Iron Maiden‘s Power Slave is an album for the ages. There is not a single fan of music that has anything bad to say about this masterpiece. This is an essential album for all metal heads to own.

Nothing says NWOBHM quite like Iron Maiden. Power Slave is the album that defines this era and genre of music to a T. I believe I have seen more Power Slave shirts in my life than any other album or band shirt, yes even Metallica.

There is nothing in metal that is quite like Bruce Dickinson’s voice. Steve Harris’s Bass playing. The dueling guitars of Adrian Smith and Dave Murray. Nicko McBrain’s rhythm section.

So here it is for your listening pleasure, lets bask in this album’s 32 year reign of power. Let’s all be happy that in a wold of all this madness we have Iron Maiden to listen to. Iron Maiden will never go away, years from now people will look back on their catalog like we do Bach.

Long Live Iron Maiden, Iron Maiden Lives!
The Will Of Iron Never Dies.
Thank you for the years, though most of them were wasted.

Alright, I promise I am not going to fuck this up like I did recently with Mortal Strike where I mistakenly called Austrians Australian and when I called Malokarpatan Slovenian when they are Slovakian. BattleX is an awesome traditional heavy metal influenced Thrash band from Slovenia.

There was a sound that thrash developed just before the accursed term half-thrash arrived in the early 90’s that derived after the turbulent 80’s thrash scene broke the speed of sound numerous times and was getting tired of that sound. The sound was a pure fusion of taking raw thrash and fusing it with the solid foundation of heavy metal. The first band I can name that is the easiest way to describe this sound is Holy Terror. After Holy Terror perfected this sound the early 80’s guys started to come to the heavy thrash fusion side, like Slayer‘s Seasons in the Abyss and Megadeth‘s Countdown to Extinction. Now you are probably sitting there thinking “yeah ok, I know this already but what the fuck does this have to do with BattleX?” BattleX‘s Imminent Downfall feels like a lost gem of that time and place in thrash, and sounds fucking great.

I have always felt like this was a dead sound that I would never hear revived due to the fact that everyone wants to sound like the 80’s guys. The 90’s sound has not been heard in quite some time unless you throw on an old Cyclone Temple album. I am very pleasantly surprised by BattleX with Imminent Downfall. There is a lot of building that creates a solid foundation and pinnacle upon this excellent album. ┬áIf you were a fan of the sound of metal between 1989-1994, Imminent Downfall is right up your alley, and no when I say that I am not saying this is anywhere near a rip-off of the sound, it feels like a unique experience that just so happens to be a dead ringer of a timeless era in Thrash and Heavy Metal.
