Sounds Like: The Witchking and the Dark Lord Casting Demonic Invasion Upon Middle Earth

Michigan is home to many rockers. Out of them all the most important legends are Iggy & The Stooges, MC5, and Alice Cooper. Iggy & The Stooges showed the world a new raw form of music, MC5 kicked out the f-bombs, and Alice Cooper made it O.K. to wear corpse paint.(Kiss just looked like clowns which inspired another Michigan gimmick but I don’t have time to talk about that.) In other words, in America, California and New York get all the credit for everything while forgetting there’s a lot of influence from the Midwest.. Mainly the Murder Mitten.

Sauron is some damn good black thrash from East Lansing. Look at a map and draw a line from East Lansing to Detroit. That is the line of evil. All metal that comes from this line is unholy, blasphemous, raw, and sick as hell. If the band’s name was Frodo they would most likely be from Ann Arbor and be a college rock band.

The raw atmosphere contained on Thrash Assault is the beauty of the whole package. This is one of those albums where the low production value adds to the album, not take away… If you seriously read that and said I don’t like raw productions, fuck you because you never heard a real metal album.. Ever.

The epic nature of the track “Demonic Invasion” kick ass. Besides maybe the track “Communist Crusher” by Vicimizer, I can’t think of another black thrash band that has such a good chanting chorus like “Demonic Invasion”.

These lyrics right here

BLACK WINGS FILL THE SKIES ABOVE
DEMONIC INVASION
KILLING IN THE NAME OF SATAN
DEMONIC INVASION
BLACK SHAPES RAIN DEATH FROM ABOVE
DEMONIC INVASION
CRUSHING ALL THE PUNY HUMANS
DEMONIC INVASION

I don’t care what you listen to, that is a chanter right there!

I can’t believe this album came out 11 years ago. I remember the first time I heard Sauron’s Thrash Assault… I think I shit my pants.
